Pillow Case: Pomegranate

This painted and beaded pillowcase explores the feelings of a woman in her 30s facing the choice to have a child. The pomegranate seeds represent the number of eggs left, with each seed symbolizing the potential that remains. The embroidered phrase "tarikh masraf," meaning "expiration date," adds a sense of urgency to the piece.

Through this artwork, I express the sadness of missed chances and the confusion that often accompany such an important decision. The painting illustrates all the eggs that weren’t fertilized, reflecting the complex emotions of hope, loss, and uncertainty. This work invites viewers to reflect on their own experiences and the difficult choices related to fertility and aging.
